Needs Assessment and Gap Analysis for Social and Recreational Programming in the Downtown Eastside
This report was commissioned by the Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House (DTES NH) to provide evidence-based data to inform the development of the organization and its programs.
Over the course of three months I reviewed numerous secondary data sources, undertook primary research (semi-structured interviews) with more than 20 service providers in the DTES and supported my project partner Alice Sundberg in the facilitation of two focus groups. In addition I took part in the programs of the neighbourhood house, undertaking participatory research.
Using Atlas.ti7 I analyzed the vast amounts of data collected and prepared the information for submission in a final report to the Board of Directors.
Throughout the course of the project we worked closely with the board and staff to make sure our recommendations not only discuss the needs of the people living in the DTES, but also align with the organization's strategic direction.
